Attendees at the first day of the Indian Gaming Tradeshow and Convention reportedly heard how casino-operating tribes in California and Arizona are working towards bringing legalized sportsbetting to their venues.

According to a Monday report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the five-day gathering from the National Indian Gaming Association is set to run until Friday inside the 300,000 sq ft Caesars Forum Conference Center Las Vegas as tribal leaders from across the United States meet up to network and discuss a range of topics.

The newspaper reported that panellists taking part in the inaugural day of the extravaganza agreed that California is soon likely to see new proposals for legalized sportsbetting from the state’s many horseracing tracks and card rooms alongside possibly even distinguished commercial operators such as FanDuel Group and DraftKings Incorporated. After being selected as the primary service provider for Ontario’s northern and southwest gaming bundles in 2016, Canadian gaming and entertainment operator Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited officially opened its Cascades Casino North Bay property on March 9th, 2022.

Located in the Northeastern Ontario city of North Bay at 300 Pinewood Park Drive, the new 39,000-plus sq ft casino features a full-service casino bar, gaming consisting of nearly 300 slots, 10 electronic tables and 6 live dealer table games and Gateway’s signature restaurant brand, MATCH Eatery & Public House, a contemporary neighborhood pub offering sporting and live entertainment experiences. Although Unite Here Local 54 is the leading Atlantic City worker union, several other employee organizations have united in support of the change, resulting in mixed messages on the topic.

Industry and Unions Fear a Potential Downturn

Unite Here Local 54 stands together with the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), urging state lawmakers to reconsider their intentions. Their primary concern is that a ban on smoking would hurt Atlantic City’s status and drive customers away, hurting revenue. Local 54 president Bob McDevitt commented on the situation in local media outlet NJ Spotlight, warning that alienating smokers would have a widespread impact.

PlayStation has revealed the PlayStation 2024 Wrap-Up, a tool that provides a summary of your year on PS4 and PS5. This year, the Wrap-Up features a retro aesthetic to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.

PlayStation 2024 Wrap-Up will continue to update and track your profile through the end of December, until it goes away on January 10. The Wrap-Up will show your various stats such as most games played, monthly gaming stats, habits, and more.

It’ll also show you what year your profile was made, as well as other historical statistics. These include the total number of games you’ve played since the creation of your PSN account and the number of trophies you’ve earned.

Those who complete the PlayStation 2024 Wrap-Up experience can redeem a 30th anniversary-inspired avatar and PlayStation Stars digital collectible.

PlayStation also released a trailer to show off upcoming PS5 games in 2025, which include ones like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei. At the beginning of 2024, PlayStation confirmed that no major AAA first-party games would be released until April 2025 at the earliest.

According to the latest information publicized by the government, the number of poker machine entitlements in the state will fall by at least 3,000. This will see thousands of gambling machines gone along with a new cash-in limit on new machines introduced.

Restricting the Maximum Betting Limit for Pokies

The cash limit sits at around $340 (AU$500) right now, and it’s part of a broader effort to ensure that consumers do not suffer from gambling harm. The measure is also designed to tackle money laundering, which has been reported as a serious problem in New South Wales, with pubs and gaming clubs turned abused by criminals.

The NSW has also had to deal with an interruption of its cashless gaming trial after it transpired that a cyberattack had been able to compromise the personal data of about 40 customers.
